Twitter transfers @POTUS to Trump

As President Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, Twitter transferred control of the @POTUS account to the new administration − along with @FLOTUS and @VP.
Twitter archived former President Barack Obama's official account to @POTUS44 and created a new @POTUS handle for Trump after he was officially sworn in. The company is in the process of adding all of Obama's followers to the new @POTUS account, so if you followed the account before Friday you will automatically be following both accounts.
As of 3 p.m. Friday, @POTUS was at 7.16 million followers, and it is unclear how many of those were Obama's followers and how many are new followers.
Trump’s personal account, @RealDonaldTrump, has 20.8 million followers.

Unfortunately, the Twitter transition wasn't gaffe-free. Earlier this afternoon, Twitter users noticed something odd about Trump's first Twitter background. The photo was a shot from Obama's 2009 inauguration. The image has since been changed.
