Republican presidential contender Donald Trump has been leading in the national polls for the majority of the race to the White House, so when a new poll showed Ted Cruz leading the pack, the real estate mogul was not pleased.
A new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll showed Cruz leading nationally by 28 percent over Trump’s 26 percent.
Trump dismissed the poll as a “total joke,” particularly because a CBS poll came out the same day showing Trump has a 35 percent lead, followed by Cruz at 18 percent nationally.
Cruz retweeted a tweet posted by Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, stating Cruz’s lead.
Kelly and Trump have famously had tension, which Trump cites as the reason why he missed a GOP debate that Kelly was moderating.
Trump took aim at the media for reporting on the polls, which show him trailing Cruz.
The polls came out days before the South Carolina primaries, where Trump is leading the Republican candidates, and following a win in New Hampshire.
