Donald Trump, best known for his business dealings and his television show "The Apprentice," made his presidential announcement on June 16, 2015.
He was elected president on Nov. 8, 2016 and sworn in on Jan. 20, 2017.
Here's a look at his biography, compiled from Trump.com.
- Started career in office he shared with his father in Brooklyn, New York
- Worked with father for five years.
- Graduated from The Wharton School of Finance.
- 1984 won Entrepreneur of the year from The Wharton School.
- 1987 published autobiography "The Art of the Deal." Also published: the sequel "Surviving at the Top," a third book "The Art of the Comeback and a fourth "The America We Deserve. " He has also published books on golf and "The Apprentice."
- 1997 opened Trump International Hotel and Tower on Central Park West at Columbus Circle
- 2002 purchased Delmonico Hotel, renamed it Trump Park Avenue.
- 2004 produced/star in the Apprentice
- 2005 – Donald J. Trump Signature Collection includes business clothes. He also started a line called Trump Home that has furniture, bath textiles and accessories.
- 2007 – Received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
- 2008 Opened Trump International Hotel & Tower/Chicago.
- 2008 #3 greatest catch phrase on television: "Your Fired"
- 2012 – Success by Trump fragrance, second one Empire launched 2015.
- 2012 – He was chosen as developer of the Old Post Office building in Washington, D.C., and is converting it into a luxury hotel and museum gallery. It is scheduled to open in 2016.
- 2011 – He forced Pres. Obama to release his birth certificate
- Co-owns The Bank of America Building in San Francisco.
- Owns multiple golf clubs in New York, California, and Scotland.
- Developed largest parcel of land in New York City, the former West Side Rail Yards, now called Trump Place.
- Partner with NBC in Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA Pageants.
- One of the highest paid speakers in the world. In 2011, gave two-city speech in Australia - $3 million
- He is married to Melania Trump and is the father of five and grandfather of seven.
