Veterans Day is Nov. 11, and while there are many ceremonies and events throughout metro Atlanta, much of the nation will mark the solemn event as well.

Here’s a look at some of the nation’s most notable Veterans Day events:

National Veterans Day Ceremony. The Veterans Day National Ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 11. It begins with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by veterans organizations and remarks from dignitaries.

America's Parade. Held in New York City, this year's parade commemorates the Veterans Day centennial. The U.S. Marine Corps is this year's featured military branch, but the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard will also be represented. It begins at noon, rain or shine.

Women in Military Service Memorial. Located in Arlington, Virginia, the Women in Military Service for America Memorial will host an event at 3 p.m., featuring formal military honors, speakers, veterans' remarks and a wreath-laying ceremony.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial. A ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. to pay tribute to all veterans, regardless of the conflict in which they served.

Navy Memorial. A wreath will be laid at the foot of the Lone Sailor at 11 a.m. at the memorial in Washington.

National parks. National parks are open and waiving all entrance fees.
