A Georgia middle school teacher and coach has been identified as the victim of a motorcycle crash Wednesday near Bryan County, according to news outlet WTOC.

Patrick Welch was a teacher and coach at Richmond Hill Middle School, WTOC reported.

The middle school sent an email to parents informing them that counselors and other support staff are on campus to help students and staff. WTOC received a copy of the email.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Welch was traveling along Belfast River Road on his motorcycle near an apartment complex. An SUV, as reported by WTOC, tried to turn into the apartment complex and collided with the motorcycle.

The investigation is ongoing, and no decision about possible charges has been made, WTOC reported.

Bryan County is south of Savannah along the Georgia coast.
