Big changes are on the way for North Georgia that have the potential to turn things wet, humid and sometimes stormy.
After a relatively dry Monday, rain chances will rise quickly, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said. Monday will be the best day this week for any outdoor activities.
“There will be that chance for maybe an isolated shower or storm, but today is really going to be the best day of the week, so enjoy it while you can,” Deon said.
All of North Georgia should stay dry for the morning drive before isolated showers begin popping up around lunchtime, she said. Any rain that falls Monday afternoon should stay spotty until later in the evening, when showers are expected to increase as humidity builds, according to Channel 2.

“The sunglasses, the short sleeves, the shorts — really any kind of summer gear you can think of,” Deon said. “Today is the day for that because our temperatures are going to be climbing well into the upper 80s.”
The projected high for Atlanta is 88 degrees, which is about average for this time of year. Deon said it might be a good idea to keep an umbrella in the backseat, but most should not need it Monday. That will change Tuesday, she said.
An area of low pressure just off Georgia’s coast has only a 60% chance of becoming a tropical system, but Deon said it will have an impact on weather regardless. Clouds and humidity will both increase overnight, she said.
“As it pushes inland, we’re going to see the moisture increasing, especially starting overnight tonight with the clouds and some scattered rain showers,” she said. “And then that rain chance will really go up on Tuesday as downpours increase, and it could be heavy at times.”
Rain is 70% likely Tuesday, but it will come with lower temperatures. Tuesday’s projected high is 83 degrees, according to Channel 2.

Metro Atlanta interstates are moving smoothly to start the Monday morning drive, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
“No problem areas, that’s the good news,” traffic reporter Mark Arum said. “Lighter than normal metrowide.”
Drivers on the Southside could experience some slight delays getting into Stockbridge, however. Construction was blocking on southbound lane of I-75 at the I-675 split.
