Missing Christian author found safe

Christian author Henry Thomas Blackaby was found Friday night, more than 24 hours after he was reported missing from his Henry County home.

Blackaby, 78, was found in Tifton and was alone, according to Sgt. Joey Smith with Henry County police.

“Detectives have been tracking his credit activity and were able to get units to a convenience store to locate him,” Smith said in an emailed statement late Friday.

Blackaby was being checked by doctors after being found, his son, Richard, posted on Twitter.

Blackaby, author of “Experiencing God,” and other religious books has been missing since Thursday afternoon when he left his Rex home, police said. Police had issued a Mattie’s Call to help find the man.

The family also used Facebook to let followers know Blackaby was safe.

"The Blackaby family would like everyone to know that Henry has been found and is safe," was posted on the Blackaby Ministries International Facebook page. "His health concerns are being addressed and we will keep everyone posted with the news. We wish to express to everyone our appreciation and gratitude for the prayers and concern over the last 29 hours."
