Memorial Day should be sunny in metro Atlanta — at least until mid-afternoon.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Katie Walls said Monday should be mostly “dry through the first half,” with isolated showers developing around the metro by 3 p.m. Rain and possible thunderstorms are “really expected to be ramping up after 5 o’clock,” she said.

Walls’ forecast called for a high of 80 degrees Monday with a 60 percent chance of rain.

“Keep your eyes to the sky and an umbrella by your side,” she said.

Rain is expected to stick around the rest of the week as well, with a 60 percent chance of rain forecast for Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
