A 24-year-old Marietta man was convicted Tuesday of family violence battery and aggravated stalking against his pregnant girlfriend.
Dahlen Green Musgrove was sentenced to 15 years, with five to serve, according to a news release from the office of Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds. The woman was also granted a permanent protective order against Musgrove.
Musgrove was arrested in July 2013 on charges of battery against the woman, who was eight months pregnant, according to the release. She took out a temporary protective order after his arrest but, in January while he was still in jail, he wrote her a letter asking her to drop the charges, the release said.
“This is a case about control, then violence, then harassment,” Assistant District Attorney Courtney Mays told jurors, according to the release. “She lived through repeated violence and harassment because he wanted to control her.”
Musgrove testified that he did not beat his girlfriend, but that the woman was injured when she ran into a door.
