A man who was on the run for nearly a month following what authorities called a domestic incident was arrested last week hiding in the attic of a Douglas County home.

Ronald Mack, 28, was wanted on an aggravated assault charge for an incident involving a 32-year-old woman in early August at a home in Villa Rica, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. An incident report contends Mack used a handgun.

An arrest warrant was issued the same day, but Mack was not taken into custody until a month later.

Last Wednesday, Mack was located at a home in the Winston area, authorities said. When deputies entered the residence, he was found hiding in the attic. After falling through the ceiling, he tried to hide under some cabinets, authorities said.

He was soon arrested “without further incident” and taken to the Douglas County Jail.

“You can run but you can’t hide!” the sheriff’s office wrote.

Police are not releasing any more information about the domestic incident due to pending prosecution, sheriff’s office spokesman Sandra Pearson said.
