Atlanta police Friday were investigating an overnight shooting at an apartment that left a man dead.

The shooting happened just before midnight Thursday at an apartment on Ira Street in southwest Atlanta.

A man in his 50s was shot in the leg, and later died at Grady Memorial Hospital, Channel 2 Action News reported. The man’s name has not been released.

“We do know there was some type of verbal argument inside the apartment before the gunshot,” Atlanta police Lt. Charles Hampton told the station.

Police have not said what sparked the argument.
