Clayton County police are investigating a shooting Thursday afternoon that left a man dead.
Officers responding to the 3 p.m. shooting in the 1700 block of Rock Cut Road found James Daniel Evers dead of a gunshot wound, according to Clayton County police Officer Danielle Rosa.
Rosa said that witnesses told investigators that three men fled the scene in an older model green Mercury Mountaineer, possibly with a Fulton County tag.
She said the Mercury SUV was followed by a witness “until the suspects opened fire with multiple gunshots at the witness”on Falcon Court in Conley. That witness was not injured, Rosa said.
She asked that anyone with information on the shooting call investigators at 770-472-8110.
