A Rockdale County Waffle House was robbed at gunpoint early Thursday by a man wearing a “Scream” mask, according to police.

The masked man, dressed in black, entered the breakfast eatery on West Avenue in Conyers around 6:55 a.m., Kim Lucas, spokesperson for Conyers police, said in an emailed statement. Surveillance video released Thursday afternoon showed the man wearing a black and white ghost mask, popularized in the 1996 movie “Scream.”

No one was injured during the robbery, according to police. The suspect was last seen running in the direction Davis and Son funeral home on Hardin Street.

Rockdale County sheriff’s deputies assisted Conyers officers with setting up a perimeter and searching the area, but the suspect was not located. Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS or online at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous.

In August, Clayton County police said a man wearing a "Scream" mask had robbed more than a dozen businesses in the Tara Boulevard corridor at gunpoint, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. It was not known if the most recent case in Conyers is related to the Clayton County cases.
