Forsyth County Sheriff’s officials say a 39-year-old Gainesville man has died in a tree trimming accident.

The Forsyth News (http://bit.ly/1iyjWoS) reports 39-year-old Jose Luiz Martinez died after falling about 40 feet to the ground Saturday in northeast Forsyth County.

County sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Simmons says Martinez wasn’t wearing safety equipment when he fell. It’s unclear how the man fell from the equipment he was using. Simmons says Martinez was part of a four-person crew and none of his co-workers saw him fall.

Meth lab discovered inside Chamblee hotel

The owner of the Lodge on Buford Hotel only meant to evict a tenant who hadn’t paid his bill, but he found himself calling Chamblee police.

“When the officer got here, the tenant had actually left. (The officer) went inside with the owner of facility and found all the components of a methamphetamine laboratory,” GBI agent W. Joseph Chesnut told Channel 2 Action News.

Soon after, the GBI arrived.

“We secured a search warrant, the DeKalb County fire department went in with their hazardous material crew, they took air quality readings to ensure the air quality was safe for the people on that floor,” Chesnut said.

Chesnut said it was the second meth lab they’ve been called to in the past week and a half in metro Atlanta.

Investigators are still looking for the man who leased the apartment and ran before police arrived.
