Griffin police were investigating a fatal shooting that followed a fight at a party early Saturday.

The victim, a 19-year-old man identified as Ivan Matthew Sierra, was found shortly after midnight with severe head trauma in the middle of the street at North 9th Street and West Tinsley, Griffin police spokesman Capt. Dwayne Jones said.

Jones told Channel 2 Action News that police believe Sierra collapsed in the street after fleeing the party. He died before he could be transported by paramedics to a hospital.

Police said a weapon was recovered near the scene and a suspect has been identified but no arrest had been made.
