Homicide units are investigating the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man at a southwest Atlanta apartment, police said.

A man called police Saturday about 4:40 p.m. and said he shot at someone in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, police spokeswoman Officer Lisa Bender said. Officers, however, were unable to locate the caller or anyone involved.

Several hours later, around 2 a.m. Sunday, the same person called and said he “needed to get some property at his apartment,” Bender said. When police arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was identified as 19-year-old Kahri White, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police did not release the name of the caller, who told investigators that he and the victim had gotten into an “altercation” in the apartment. He believed the victim was reaching for a gun, according to police.

He said he fired his gun while running away but didn’t know if he had struck the man.

Police did not say if charges would be filed.
