A Johns Creek man died after his car crashed into a utility pole in Marietta on Sunday morning, police said.

Justin Gideon, 25, was traveling east on Delk Road near the entrance ramp to I-75 South, the Marietta Police Department said in a statement. About 7:50 a.m., his 2017 Nissan Sentra left the road on the right side and hit a utility pole, officials said.

Gideon was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was the only person in the car.

It is not known why the car left the road.

The wreck remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Nick St. Onge at 770-794-5352, or via email at NStOnge@mariettaga.gov.

It led officials to block the I-75 on-ramp Sunday morning, causing delays, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
