A man was found shot to death at a Macon apartment complex overnight Friday alongside another victim who was wounded but expected to survive.

Damond Cain Stevens, 38, was shot multiple times in his side and later died at Navicent Health medical center, becoming Macon-Bibb County's 25th homicide of the year, Coroner Leon Jones said, according to reports.

Officials identified the second victim as 25-year-old Jacorey Holloway, who was wounded in the buttocks.

The two men were found near Houston Avenue and Cynthia Avenue, outside the Bowden Homes apartment complex in Macon.

Reports said gunfire erupted about 12:30 a.m. Friday, according to CBS affiliate 13WMAZ in Macon.

Officials did not say if the victims knew each other.

Police also have not identified a suspect, nor is there a known motive for the shooting. Stevens was, however, known to Macon police.

He was arrested in August 2018 and charged with the felony burglary of a Macon Dollar General store on Houston Avenue, which happens to be about 1.5 miles from Friday’s shooting.

Police said Stevens, who was 36 at the time, was captured on surveillance video kicking in a glass door and stealing a DVD and cigar products, according to The Macon Telegraph.

The video showed Stevens with a full beard, but later booking photos showed him completely shaven and wearing glasses.
