Oct 31, 2014

A Tennessee man is facing multiple charges after a wreck on I-75 that killed two people in Bartow County on Thursday night.

Charles Larry Porter Jr., 50, of Manchester, is charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle in the first degree, DUI, marijuana possession, open container of alcohol while operating a vehicle, and various traffic offenses, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Porter’s vehicle struck another vehicle while traveling southbound on I-75 near mile marker 300 just after 8:30 p.m., the GSP said. Upon impact, the second vehicle went down an embankment and stopped in a tree line. Both people in that vehicle died.

The names of the deceased have not been released.

Porter was transported to the Bartow County jail, where he is being held with no bond. He was bound over to the Bartow County Superior Court for a bond, authorities said Monday.

The crash investigation is continuing.
