A man’s body was found behind a Cobb County motel Sunday morning after investigators put out a brush fire in the area, officials said.

The fire burned about two acres of wooded land surrounded by buildings off Cobb Parkway early Sunday morning, the Marietta Police Department said in a statement.

The man’s body was found lying on the ground behind the Regency Inn & Suites in the area damaged by the blaze.

He was identified Monday as 53-year-old Mark Foster of Marietta, police said.

Investigators said there are no obvious signs of foul play.

“While it appears to be a tragic accident, the investigation is ongoing,” police said.
