A 25-year-old Gwinnett County man is accused in the shooting death of a woman during a suspected fight between two gangs, police said Thursday.

Omar Santana was arrested Tuesday after a SWAT team executed a search warrant at his Lawrenceville-area home, Cpl. Jake Smith with Gwinnett police said.

“Evidence of drug sales and evidence from the homicide case were found in the home,” Smith said in an emailed statement.

Investigators believe Santana fired several shots during a fight around 4:15 a.m. Dec. 9 in the Norcross area, striking Malia Arianne Ross Robinson. Robinson, 21, died after being transported to the hospital, according to police.

Police have said Robinson was part of a group that was involved in an altercation with a second group at Liquid Ultra Lounge on Holcomb Bridge Road. The altercation dispersed, but started up again at a nearby gas station and then again off Phil Niekro Parkway, where Robinson was shot, police said.

Santana was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, aggravated assault, felony murder and an immigration violation, according to Gwinnett County jail records. He was being held Thursday without bond.
