A man accused of robbing a Grady Memorial Hospital healthcare worker as she was walking home from work Saturday has been arrested, Atlanta police said.

Anthony Stephens, 55, approached the victim near the 200 block of Martin Street and hit her in the head, according to a police Facebook post. He then dragged her to a grass area near the sidewalk, authorities said.

Police said Stephens hit the victim repeatedly and demanded money, then eventually got her purse and ran away. He was located by officers near a park and arrested the same day.

He was charged with robbery by force and simple battery. Stephens remains in the Fulton County Jail without bond.

Police said Stephens has a criminal history that includes several robberies. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reached out for more information about the incident and that criminal history.
