Man accused of stabbing father to death

A Coweta County man is accused of stabbing his 58-year-old father to death, according to police.

Richard Earhart called 911 around 5:30 a.m. Thursday to report that he was being assaulted by his son, the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office said. When deputies arrived at a home on Nectarine Drive, near Newnan, they found Earhart beside the road bleeding, according to Lt. Col. Jimmy Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

Earhart was transported to a local hospital, where he died, Yarbrough said. Earhart’s son, Justin Earhart, 31, was arrested and charged with murder, according to police.
