A Cobb County man has been charged with making a phony bomb threat to the courthouse on the same day his former home was on the auction block.
Tommie Milan Boleman Jr., 45 of Acworth, was arrested Tuesday night, less than 12 hours after his alleged threat to the Cobb County Judicial Complex, Sheriff Neil Warren said.
Boleman was charged with making terroristic threats, disrupting a public meeting, false public alarm, false statements, and obstruction, Warren said Wednesday.
Around 10:25 a.m. Tuesday, Boleman allegedly made a bomb threat to the courthouse, prompting an extensive search of the complex with an explosives detection canine, the sheriff’s office said. No suspicious devices were located.
Shortly after 9 p.m., Boleman was arrested in his Acworth home, which is under foreclosure. The Fairwood Pointe home was scheduled to be sold on the courthouse steps Tuesday morning, Warren said.
Court records show the home is owned by Boleman’s ex-wife, but it was not known if the house was sold Tuesday.
“As I have said before, we will not tolerate anyone trying to intimidate our court officials, our prosecutors, and our citizens coming to the Cobb County courthouse to conduct business,” Warren said in an emailed statement. “Our agency has policies and procedures in place to handle this type of incident.”
Boleman was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Cobb jail, where he was being held Wednesday without bond.
