A Douglas County man was denied bond Monday, two days after his arrest for allegedly beating his live-in girlfriend to death.
Gary Lee Malone, 46, was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with murder in the death of Katrina West, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Late Saturday morning, Malone called police to the Lithia Springs apartment where the couple lived.
Investigators believe the couple may have been arguing over finances.
West, 36, was declared dead at 1:15 p.m., Randy Daniel, the county’s coroner, said Monday. She appeared to have been beaten to death, Daniel said. An autopsy was expected to be conducted by the GBI crime lab.
Malone was denied bond at his court appearance Monday morning.
