Airstrikes aren’t the only forces rocking the Middle East.
On Wednesday, a 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck southwestern Iran near the Bushehr nuclear plant, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The organization said the quake began about 6 miles below the surface.
The earthquake was just the latest in a series of seismic events in the Middle East.
On Wednesday, Iran launched a series of retaliatory airstrikes against American forces after U.S. airstrikes killed a top Revolutionary Guard commander last week.
Iranian state TV said it was in revenge for the U.S. killing of Revolutionary Guard Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

Also Wednesday, 176 people were killed when a Ukrainian International Airlines Boeing 737-300 crashed shortly after takeoff. The plane carried 167 passengers and nine crew members from different nations, and all were reported dead.
Ukrainian and Iranian officials said they suspected a mechanical issue brought down the aircraft, and that the crash was not related to any military actions carried out by Iran.
Dozens of people were killed Tuesday when a stampede broke out at Soleimani's funeral. More than 200 were also injured as thousands thronged the procession in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
Iran lies on major seismic faults and has an average of one earthquake per day, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
