Mad about the coronavirus, Nashville man allegedly attacks couple with machete

What to do when you're stopped by police

A homeless man in Nashville was arrested Sunday and charged with two counts of attempted murder after allegedly attacking a husband and wife with a machete.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said Kelvin Edwards, 35, walked into a Public Storage building about 2:45 p.m. and attacked Kevin and Leanne Craft. The couple are reported to be in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Police said Edwards had a bin at the facility which contained a machete. Police said Edwards told them he was mad about the coronavirus shutdowns and his inability to get into the Rescue Mission.

Police said Edwards told them he decided to demonstrate his anger by attacking the couple, whom he did not know.

In 2017, Edwards was convicted of felony vandalism and, while in jail, he was charged with deliberately spitting on two Davidson County Sheriff's deputies, according to WSMV.
