Thieves stole luxury vehicles from the parking lot of a Midtown restaurant Thursday night after swiping the keys from a valet key box.

Channel 2 Action News reported that the thefts happened about 11 p.m. at the Ecco restaurant on 7th Street.

Atlanta police investigators told the station that the thieves distracted one of the valet attendants, lured him away from the locked box holding the keys to parked cars, broke into the lock box and took three sets of keys.

The thieves stole a 2014 BMW with New Jersey license tag J96ENE and a 2011 Land Rover with Georgia tag BSW0680. The third vehicle was not stolen. The owner retrieved a spare set of keys and was able to take the vehicle home, police said.

One of the victims, Brineet Ramakur, told Channel 2 that he waited 10 minutes for his car before the restaurant manager told him it was missing.

“I was like, ‘What’s going on?’ How can I lose my car, especially at a valet,” Ramakur said. “That’s the last place you’d ever expect to lose a car.”
