The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its Feb. 19 regular meeting to deny a request for a zoning modification relating to a self-storage business on the northern edge of the county near the DeKalb County line.

The owners of the facility at 5484 Flakes Mill Road wanted a stipulation removed from the original 1996 rezoning that required office space in the front of the property and mini-warehouses in the rear, as they wanted to develop some storage spaces in the existing office building. County staff suggested that any self-storage space replacing office space should be interior or indoor storage designed to mirror Class A commercial office space.

The representative of the petitioner told the board that there was no problem with that stipulation, but the board still denied the request.
