The Zaban Couples Center, which helps and rehabilitates homeless couples, will unveil its renovated facility during a community open house from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday.

More than 50 students from the Savannah College of Art and Design, volunteers from the Georgia chapter of the International Interior Design Association and the center worked in partnership for five months to complete the $90,000 renovation to the center's 23 bedrooms, common area and community clothing closet.

The center,  located at 1605 Peachtree St. N.E.,  began as  the Temple Zaban Night Shelter during the winter of 1984. Homeless couples will begin arriving at the facility, which is adjacent to The Temple on Oct. 14.  Residents will graduate and leave the facility on April 30.
