Crews this week began the involved, sometimes loud process of repainting two water towers located off Highway 9 in Milton, just behind a Zaxby’s.

The project involves draining the towers and sandblasting the interior and exterior, the city announced Monday. It is expected to take eight to 12 weeks.

“The process of removing the old paint is rather noisy,” according to a press release. “Workers will use noise meters in an effort to help ensure that local noise ordinances are adhered to as much as possible.”

Fulton County crews may work from morning to dusk Monday through Saturday.

Water towers typically have to be repainted every 10 to 15 years, crews said.
