The man shot and killed early Tuesday near a downtown Atlanta homeless shelter has been identified as Bruce Earle II, 24, of Atlanta.

Authorities had earlier identified the victim as 18-year-old Carlton Landey, an alias that he had used in the past.

Earle was shot several times near the intersection of Courtland and Pine streets.

Police have not released a motive for the 1:30 a.m. shooting, which happened behind the Metro Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless shelter at Peachtree and Pine streets.
