A Woodstock woman was killed in a single-car wreck Wednesday night, police said.

A Cherokee County deputy responded to reports of an accident at 10:20 p.m. and found an SUV that had collided head-on with a tree on South Cherokee Drive near Woodstock.

Killed in the wreck was driver Lydia Bordacs, 57, of Woodstock, police said.

Bordac’s son, Peter Kubanyi, 33, of Smyrna, was transported to Kennestone Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the accident. Preliminary indications are that alcohol and speed played a role in the accident, said Lt. Jay Baker with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.
