Woodstock city officials are making plans to deal with parking problems at one of the city’s most heavily-used parks.

City manager Jeff Moon told the city council Monday night that vehicles unable to find parking spots this past weekend instead parked along the road leading to Olde Rope Mill Park. That blocked access by a fire truck responding to medical calls there. Several cars were towed and others ticketed as a result of the jam-up.

There were plans to request expanding overflow parking by 40 spots in next year’s budget, but that city staff will speed up planning the project and that the proposal will appear be on the council’s next meeting agenda, said Moon. The council’s next meeting is set for May 11.
