The Woodstock City Council has approved a request by Reformation Brewery to close Oak and Elm streets downtown to allow underground utility excavation as part of the renovation of 105 Elm St. as a small-batch brewery.
Reformation’s contractor requested a two-week window, the weeks of July 16 and 23, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the closures.
Oak will be closed to through traffic, but access will continue to most existing parking and nearby businesses. It’s hoped Elm can remain open, but the contractor will not know for certain until excavation begins, a city spokeswoman said.
Road plates will be used to keep the streets open during non-work hours. The goal is to complete the work by mid-August.
Reformation is constructing a five-barrel brewhouse in the 6,000-square-foot Elm Street building. It will have a research and development brewery and two public bars serving 16 to 24 beers at any given time. Information: https://bit.ly/2NcbTjw
