Woodstock has announced street closures and a traffic plan for July 4 as part of its Northside Hospital-Cherokee Independence Day celebration including a road race, parade, festival and fireworks display.

From 7 to 8:45 a.m., Main Street and Rope Mill Road will be closed from Ga. 92 to Woodstock Elementary School for the Freedom Run Race, which begins at 7:15 a.m. This stretch of street will reopen at about 8:45 a.m.; close at 9:45 a.m. for the parade (which steps off at 10 a.m.), and reopen again at about 11:30 a.m.

A festival in the Park at City Center opens immediately following the parade and goes until 3 p.m.

Fireworks are scheduled for sunset in the area of Woodstock Square Avenue. A high volume of traffic is expected; police and sign boards will be on hand to direct motorists out of the area after the fireworks.
