The Woodstock City Council has approved applying for $140,000 in federal funds to help pay for updates of city planning documents for the Town Center area and Ga. 92 corridor.

The funds, administered by the Atlanta Regional Commission, will require a 20% local match of $35,000, for a total project cost of $175,000, according to a staff report to the council.

The ARC Livable Centers Initiative “is the grant that provides incentives to local jurisdictions to re-envision their communities as vibrant, walkable places with increased mobility options and improved access to jobs and services,” according to a resolution approved by the council.

If the funds are awarded, the updates would begin after the July 1 start of the 2021 fiscal year, staff said. The Town Center and Ga. 92 plans date to February 2013 and April 2015, respectively.
