The Woodstock Police Department has announced the creation of a “Transaction Safe Place” at the department, 12453 Highway 92, where buyers and sellers of goods online can meet to conduct their transactions, and with officers available any time to stand by if requested.

Those wishing to do business at the safe place should contact the department at 770-592-6030 (option 7) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to set up a meeting time of their choosing.

For those unable to schedule a time with the front office, officers will be available after hours by contacting the Cherokee Emergency Dispatch Center, 678-493-4080, and requesting the assistance of an officer at the department.

“It is our desire to deter those who would prey upon our citizens by moving these transactions from possibly secluded areas to a public area where law enforcement officers would be present,” said Woodstock Police Chief Calvin Moss.

Also, to ensure merchandise hasn’t been stolen, the police offer to check any item’s serial number against state and national databases.
