With the terms of the mayor and three council members expiring at the end of the year, the Woodstock City Council has approved an election schedule that has the municipal general election on Nov. 7 and a runoff, if necessary, on Dec. 5.

Candidate qualifying dates are Aug. 21, 22 and 23 at the city clerk’s office, according to a resolution adopted by the council. Non-refundable qualifying fees are $270 for council members and $360 for mayor.

Oct. 10 is the voter registration deadline. Early voting will begin 21 days prior to the election and can be done by mail or in person at the Cherokee County Office of Elections & Registration in Canton, or in person during the week of advance voting, Oct. 30-Nov. 3, at the Woodstock Public Library. The library also is the polling place for Nov. 7.

The terms of office for four incumbents expire Dec. 31: Mayor Donnie Henriques and Council Members Warren Johnson (Ward 1), Bob Mueller (Ward 3) and Bud Leonard (Ward 5).
