The Woodstock City Council has approved a contract with the Georgia Department of Transportation that splits the costs of proposed improvements to the intersection of Neese Road and Ga. 92.

The contract requires Woodstock to acquire needed right-of-way for the project, at an estimated cost of $147,000; and the state to provide $730,000 toward construction, estimated at $829,000.

The city will spend an estimated total of $433,950 for its share of project expenses, which also will include design and utility relocations, according to a staff report to the council. The total project cost is estimated at about $1.16 million.

State aid will finance “greater than 60% of project costs, an excellent leverage of local funds for the city of Woodstock,” staff said.
