The Woodstock City Council has approved an $89,785 contract to improve storm water drainage on both sides of Rope Mill Road near Woodstock Elementary School and the city water tower property.

The contractor, M.D. Residential LLC, is tasked with solving a deteriorating embankment by installing a retaining wall; rehabilitating storm drains and catch basins; replacing about 280 feet of damaged sidewalk with a new, 5-foot walk, and other improvements.

M.D. Residential also will remove about five or six trees, and install a sodded beauty strip along the new sidewalk, crosswalk signage and handicapped-compliant ramps on the east and west sides of Rope Mill, according to the contractor’s proposal. The work is to be completed by the end of June.
