The Woodstock City Council has approved a $309,881 contract for engineering design services for the Noonday Creek Trail extension from Ga. 92 in Woodstock to Noonday Creek Park.

The winning bidder, Heath & Lineback Engineers Inc., Marietta, had the highest-scoring bid of two submitted for the contract, according to a staff report to the council. The project will be paid for by an 80/20 Federal Highway Administration grant, which will work out to $248,000 in federal funds and $62,000 in city funds.

Heath & Lineback will be tasked with developing plans for preliminary construction, signing and marking, final right of way, erosion control, preliminary and final trails, staging, and final construction, according to the agreement.

The timeline set forth in the agreement calls for an anticipated preliminary engineering Notice to Proceed on Feb. 25, various benchmarks in 2020 and 2021, and city bid documents ready for advertisement on Aug. 30, 2021.
