After receiving paving contractors’ bids higher than what the city was willing to pay, the Woodstock City Council has decided to put off until next year the resurfacing of streets in the Deer Run subdivision.

The city in June issued a request for bids to resurface Yonah Circle, Dragging Canoe, Old Tassel Court, New Echota Way, Rattler Court, Middle Valley Lane, Talula Court and Dream Catcher Drive – slightly more than a mile of streets. Four companies responded, with bids ranging as high as $384,702.

“All bids came in much higher than expected,” staff told the council in a report that recommended the bids be rejected. “The project will be revisited again in the spring when more LMIG (Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant) funding is available and (it) can be part of a larger project.”
