The Woodstock City Council Monday night approved two measures regarding a planned entertainment complex.

Council members OK’d a variance allowing a larger building sign for Cherokee Entertainment LLC, which is building a Stars and Strikes entertainment center at 10010 Ga. 92. Current code would limit their sign’s size to 32 square feet, but city planners say the center is set so far back from the highway such a small sign wouldn’t be easily visible. Council approved a 160-square-foot sign. The developers had sought 260 square feet.

The approved variance also allows the developers to put up to four additional “artwork” signs on the building, a converted grocery store which has also acquired property on either side.

The council also approved an on-premises consumption and Sunday sale license for malt beverages, wine and distilled spirits.
