Women’s race Sunday to close Alpharetta streets, Greenway

Numerous streets and part of the Big Creek Greenway in Alpharetta will be closed Sunday morning, Nov. 4, for the Alpharetta Women’s Half Marathon and 5K Run, city officials announced.

The women-only event is expected to draw more than 2,000 runners. It will start and finish at the Avalon development and will be the first race to be run on the Greenway.

Parts of Northwinds, Westside, Encore and North Point parkways will be closed, mostly between 7 and 8:45 a.m.

Lengthiest closures are planned for the Greenway Trail from the North Point Access to Preston Ridge Access, 7:30-10 a.m.; southbound North Point from Webb Bridge to Preston Ridge roads, 8-10:15 a.m.; and Webb Bridge from North Point to Westside, 7-10:45 a.m. (use North Point to Windward Parkway to go west, Park Bridge Parkway to go east).
