Police are looking for two women in connection with the Thursday shooting of a woman in southwest Atlanta.

Police said they believe Shariah Esquivel, 21, shot the victim in the street after an argument. Esquivel is the girlfriend of the victim’s roommate, 23-year-old Nakirah Jones, who is accused of pointing a gun at the victim, according to an incident report.

The argument is said to have started in a home. About 30 minutes later, Jones and Esquivel saw the victim walking on Butner Road and began yelling and cursing, police said.

Jones allegedly threw a rock.

After hearing a “pop,” the victim saw a gun in Esquivel’s hand, looked down and realized she’d been shot, police said. Jones and Esquivel allegedly took off running.

The victim had four holes in her abdomen area, according to the report. One shell casing was found at the scene.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect may call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. All callers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000 if their tip leads to an arrest.

The incident happened near Butner Road and Blanton Avenue.
