The 21-year-old woman who was pulled from Lake Lanier in cardiac arrest Wednesday night has been identified.

Maribel Juarez-Navarrete was swimming with others when she went underwater and did not resurface, Lt. Scott Ware of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

About 8 p.m., deputies and emergency crews responded to the end of Ahaluna Drive off Dawsonville Highway, Hall County fire spokesman Zachary Brackett said earlier in a statement.

They found Juarez-Navarrete in about 5 feet of water, Brackett said. The workers performed CPR, and she was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

“It was believed that she was under water approximately 10-15 minutes,” Ware said.

Her pulse was restored before she arrived at the hospital, according to Brackett. Her latest condition is not known.
