With her baby in the backseat, a 25-year-old woman led police on a brief vehicle chase Wednesday that ended by her losing control of her car.

The Hiram Police Department responded to a call of a shoplifting and altercation at the Hiram Wal-Mart. When they arrived, Endie Rae Brumbelow had already left the scene.

A Paulding County Sheriff’s deputy and a Hiram Police officer spotted the vehicle traveling westbound on Hwy. 278, said Cpl. Brandon Gurley, spokesman for the Paulding Sheriff department.

After a brief stop, Brumbelow fled the scene again as officers exited their cars to approach her.

The chase lasted approximately 10 minutes.

Brumbelow lost control of her car after deputies used “stop sticks” to deflate the tires. No other vehicles were struck and no one was injured.

After finding the baby unharmed, deputies removed the 3-year-old girl from the car and took her to the sheriff’s office, said Gurley. The Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) was contacted and and turned the child over to her biological father.

Brumbelow faces a number of charges including aggressive and reckless driving, driving on a suspended license and fleeing/attempting to elude police.

The Hiram Police Department has also issued warrants for theft by shoplifting, criminal trespass, cruelty to children, simple battery, and possession of marijuana, said Gurley.
