A 75-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning in Cherokee County after her Mercedes-Benz E 20 left the road and struck a tree and a utility pole, fire officials said.
The crash happened about 10:30 a.m. at 4575 East Cherokee Drive, Cherokee fire spokesman Tim Cavender said.
The woman’s identity was later confirmed by Georgia State Patrol officials as Joan Comm of Canton. She died at the scene.
Both lanes of East Cherokee Drive were blocked and traffic was diverted while officials worked to clear the wreckage.
No other vehicles were involved and the cause of the accident is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.
