A Canton woman was killed and several people injured in a three-vehicle wreck Thursday afternoon in Cherokee County, according to police.

The wreck shortly after 3 p.m. temporarily closed part of Marietta Highway near exit 14 on I-575 while emergency responders worked to clear the wreck.

Amy Finn Watkins, 31, died at the scene, according to Canton police Sgt. Stacy Bailey.

A 68-year-old man in another vehicle suffered head injuries, but was alert when transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta,Cherokee fire spokesman Tim Cavender said. Two adults and three children in another vehicle were being treated for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, he said.

The investigation remains under investigation.
